KMMI, an acronym for Kurnia Maritim Mahaguna Indonesia, or Indonesia’s Multipurpose Maritime Blessing
The company is established on the 26th of August 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Vision
Innovation and sustainable technology in the maritime sector are the pillars of PT. KMMI. Its goal is to optimize the maritime economic potential in Indonesia, the region and the Pacific.
Main Mission
The key challenge the Central Lombok Regency Government as well as the East Lombok Regency Government are currently facing is to accommodate an adequate fresh water supply to the community. Limited fresh water distribution from PDAM’s municipal water pipe network, decreasing groundwater source and increasing fresh water demand due to the construction of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. The water shortage in those regions reaches to 20 m3 per second or 864,000 cubic meter per day.
• PT.KMMI’s main mission is to find solution to the water scarcity in Indonesia in general, to develop and implement them into an integrated operation using renewable energy in a sustainable process.
Surrounded by a vast area of sea water, it is hard to believe that Indonesia fails to meet its salt demand. Conflicting circumstances put the country in a difficult situation to become self-sufficient, in particular: High demand while the production is low, Import restriction imposed by the government to protect the local salt farmers and Quality challenge.
The following quotation from an article in Reuters on US-Indonesia salt sums up the current situation.
“The salt industry could take years to increase output and quality to levels needed, and there is currently no comprehensive plan to that effect.”
Long term investment and efficient cross-disciplinary approach are essential in salt processing in order Indonesia enables to achieve self-sufficiency in its salt requirement.
• PT.KMMI’s main mission is to meet the domestic salt demand by accelerating the industrialization of salt production using renewable energy.
• PT.KMMI is also committing in the (re-)employment of salt-farmers in the new salt industry.
